Visible Body's Human Anatomy Atlas Recognized with Gold Digital Health Award that Honors World’s Best Digital Health Resources

June 23, 2016 Visible Body today announced that its worldwide best-selling reference app, Human Anatomy Atlas, received top honors from the Digital Health Awards. Visible Body's app for an undergraduate Anatomy & Physiology course was also a winner.

This year marks the 18th annual awarding of the Digital Health Awards, honoring the world’s best digital health resources by the Health Information Resource Center. A panel of 34 experts in digital health media served as judges to select the winners from nearly 500 entries.

Human Anatomy Atlas won the Gold for Mobile Application Patient Education. The app includes 3D models of the male and female body. The content is organized by body systems and regions that can be quickly found by browsing or searching. Healthcare professionals can rotate around the body, zoom into an area, and explain normal anatomy and conditions to a patient. In a few taps on a phone or tablet (or the click of a mouse), muscle, soft tissue, and organs can be peeled away to get exactly the visual that facilitates a conversation between patient and clinician.

"We know our customers need fast access to robust visual content,” remarked Andrew Bowditch, CEO at Visible Body. “They’ve told us that time with each patient is limited and patient education improves outcomes. We’ve tested the content and the interface to make sure nurses, physicians, physical therapists, and other healthcare professionals who use our apps can get to the visual they want on their computer, iPad, iPhone, or Android in seconds."

This app also includes in-depth, encyclopedic anatomy reference content in 7 languages. Healthcare professionals use Visible Body’s Human Anatomy Atlas for both patient education and personal reference.

Visible Body offers web and mobile subscriptions of its products to medical libraries, universities, hospitals and other institutions. Many medical device and pharmaceutical companies rely on custom versions of Visible Body apps to communicate new advancements to customers and within their organizations.

Anatomy & Physiology also won an award in the category of Mobile Application Tool/Resource. The app visually and interactively engages students in the core concepts of an undergraduate A&P course. Stunning animations review physiology and anatomical function. 3D anatomical models can be rotated, zoomed, and dissected. Quizzes, learning objective checklists, and an intuitive interface help students learn the content at their own pace.
