Human Anatomy Atlas App Now Features Augmented Reality For AR-Ready iPhones and iPads

Visible Body’s Apps, Downloaded by Over 5 Million Users, Transform the Way Students, Educators and Healthcare Professionals Learn About the Human Body

NEWTON, MA Sept. 12, 2017 Visible Body, creator of the world’s best-selling human anatomy apps, today announced that its Human Anatomy Atlas app now offers Augmented Reality, next-generation functionality that has the potential to revolutionize the study and teaching of the human body.

Augmented Reality in Human Anatomy Atlas 2018 Edition creates a transformative learning experience that enables app users to visualize gross anatomy and microanatomy from a 360-degree perspective, just like they would in a real lab setting.

Using an iPhone or iPad, users can place a virtual human organ or a complete human body on any table in a room. App users can walk around using their device as a viewing window to identify parts of the body and virtually dissect it. With Apple’s devices and the Visible Body app, now any room can be turned into a completely outfitted anatomy lab with thousands of virtual specimens.

Visible Body plans to incorporate Augmented Reality into its core product offerings.

Augmented Reality fundamentally changes the way we will be studying and teaching anatomy,” said Andrew Bowditch, CEO and co-Founder of Visible Body. “Human Anatomy Atlas with Augmented Reality allows students to interact with human anatomy, making the user experience more compelling and rewarding. Interactive 3D gets your fingers moving against a screen, but AR gets your whole body moving in the room. It helps bridge the gap between the study of anatomy and the physical reality of human bodies. Augmented Reality is technology that will transform education for the next generation, and we are thrilled to be part of it.”

The Human Anatomy Atlas has been a global phenomenon since it was introduced in 2007. Today, it is consistently ranked as one of the top paid apps across all categories in the US, China, Japan, Germany, France, and other countries. Visible Body apps are available on both iOS and Android devices, as well as on PCs and Macs.

Institutional subscriptions of Visible Body’s apps are available to high schools, colleges, and hospital networks for classroom, research, and patient education. For licensing options, please click here.
