NEWTON, MA — March 20, 2018 — Visible Body, creator of the world’s most-used human anatomy apps, today announced that its Human Anatomy Atlas app now offers augmented reality on Android devices.
Augmented reality in Human Anatomy Atlas 2018 Edition for Android creates a transformative learning experience that enables app users to visualize gross anatomy and microanatomy from a 360-degree perspective, just like they would in a real lab setting. “We worked closely with the AR team at Google to ensure this release of Human Anatomy Atlas took full advantage of the augmented reality features in ARCore,” said Visible Body’s CEO Andrew Bowditch. “Because the app supports English, Spanish, German, Italian, French, simplified Chinese, and Japanese, we have a large Android user base around the world. New and existing customers are going to find this Android AR experience a compelling way to learn and teach human anatomy.” ARCore is supported on 100M Android devices, which makes it possible for a large number of people to get access to this technology for the first time. “Users can launch our Human Anatomy Atlas and, with a couple of taps on the screen, place a virtual human organ or a complete human body on any table in a room,” noted Bowditch. “This empowers schools and universities to host virtual cadaver labs. The AR experience offers instructors a way to reduce costs and extend lab time learning; it also empowers students to learn anytime, anywhere!” View a short video of the new augmented reality features in Human Anatomy Atlas:
