Visible Body's Human Anatomy Atlas Wins Top AMI Award

February 20, 2018 — Visible Body announced today that its 2018 release of Human Anatomy Atlas was awarded top honors at the AMI 2017 Salon Awards. The Association of Medical Illustrators is the premier group of professionals dedicated to creating visual print and media that help students, educators, and professionals communicate medical information.

The AMI's 72nd Annual Conference was hosted on the campus of the University of Texas, Austin.  Judges, with advanced degrees in medical visualization, chose Human Anatomy Atlas 2018 for the Award of Excellence in the Interactive Media category. "It's a great honor to be recognized by the AMI," noted Bert Oppenheim, the Vice President of Medical Visualization at Visible Body. "Since 1945 the AMI has helped professionals at textbook publishers, pharmaceutical companies, medical schools, etc. vet high quality, and accurate medical visualizations that help communicate how the body works."

The medical illustration profession developed at medical schools as physicians and professors reached out to artists for help in teaching students how to see inside the human body. "The first program was established at Johns Hopkins University in 1911, with Max Brödel as the director," explained Oppenheim. "Now there are a handful of programs around the United States. The team I lead here at Visible Body is formed by a tight-knit group of highly-skilled medical visualization experts."  Oppenheim noted that the reason the AMI award is such an honor is that it recognizes the Visible Body apps as part of the continuum in the history of producing top quality medical visualizations that educators at colleges and healthcare professionals can rely on to communicate with students and patients.

Visible Body apps are available to consumers on all major mobile platforms. Site licenses and seat licenses are also available for medical libraries, universities, hospitals, and medical device and pharmaceutical companies.
